Experimenting with a way to get the comic the way I want it – pencil-shaded in. I was hoping I could use a tablet called the Iskn Slate to do it all digitally, but I haven’t figured out if that’s quite feasible yet. So I tried using my typical method of tracing in lineart with the Slate, editing it digitally and adding text and background in Clip Studio Paint, and then I printed the page out and penciled it in.

This is an experiment, so I used cheap printer paper and a lower quality print job (especially since of course the page I wanted to try this out on has a GIANT BLACK BLOB on it) so the quality, in a variety of ways, isn’t really where I want it…but I think overall it could be argued to be an improvement. It’s something I’m going to continue to fiddle with until I find something that makes me happy and then I’ll probably go back and re-do older pages. (Though given I was still learning how to do things like save layers and had yet to purchase Clip, modifying those older pages is likely to be harder.)

Anyway, here’s to hoping the pages might be more visually interesting moving forward, and that I can have better success with the Monochrome gimmick when I introduce it, if I decide to.
