Note of authorial intent: I know sometimes people try to suggest a woman is absolved of her crimes against humanity because one or more men were dicks to her, so reminder: I started this comic off clearly stating that the five main characters here are all villains. They’re not villains, buuuut – No, they’re all villains. It’s also a story about their redemption arcs. And from my standpoint, redemption isn’t about figuring out how to say that what you did was okay. The whole point is it wasn’t and never could be, even if understandable. A redemption arc is the process by which a person is transformed to become someone well beyond their evil acts, who would never have considered them let alone commit them. And therefore, a background is only as necessary in that it helps to know where someone is coming from to know where they need to go.

If you want to complain about my trope usage, well, that’s a horse of different stripes, and also, don’t worry, I will be invoking worse tropes, and I’m not sorry.
