Monochrome

I had fun designing Bumbulo’s son. I’d been thinking about doing a rainbow celestial for a few pages now, but wasn’t sure where to fit her in. And then I was stumped on what to make Bumbulo’s son – animals tend to be farther removed from the elder celestials, so I wanted something more elemental to indicate the closer heritage. But Bumbulo, being air/sky/wind associated (which is why so many of the celestials here are birds and the rest still have flying elements to them – Briar is distantly related to Bumbulo through her mother) meant I had to pick something else air/sky/wind associated, and let me tell you, figuring what I could do is actually really hard. I can’t do celestial bodies ‘cuz that’s High Elder domain, so no moon, no sun, no stars. I feel shaky on making something windy that’s anthropomorphic and especially visible, I already did clouds, I’d already used lightning to break up all the birbs and other animals last page, and then I remembered.
I wanted to do a rainbow celestial in association with the sky folks.
And yeah, originally I was feeling something female, but obviously the rainbow celestial should be a gay man duh

So there you have it.

Willing to bet the High Elder will look infinitely cooler once Lauren gets to it.
